      <title><![CDATA[Visit of 5th Sammic Scholarship Winners]]></title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">5th Sammic Scholarship winners <a href="http://sueffle.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Susanne Santos</a> and <a href="http://itscliff.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Clifton Su</a> have visited Sammic headquarters in Azkoitia, Spain.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- pagebreak -->Susanne Santos is the winners of Sammic &nbsp;<a href="http://www.basquestage.com/top-chef-scholarship/" target="_blank">Top Chefs Scholarship</a>&nbsp;and will be part of 3 Michelin Star restaurant <a href="http://www.martinberasategui.com" target="_blank">Mart&iacute;n Berasategui</a>&nbsp;until June.&nbsp;Susanne Santos is a graduate of The <a href="http://www.internationalculinarycenter.com/" target="_blank">French Culinary Institute</a>, where she graduated with a nearly perfect GPA. She has experience cooking under chef Jean Georges, among others. She is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, and has even served on the event catering staff for the President of the United States.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Clifton Su, winner of Sammic&nbsp;<a href="http://www.basquestage.com/rising-stars-scholarship/" target="_blank">Rising Stars Scholarship</a>, will be working at&nbsp;<a href="http://www.restaurantefronton.com/" target="_blank">Restaurante Front&oacute;n in Tolosa</a>&nbsp;and other stablishments of the group until end of March.&nbsp;Clifton is a graduate of the <a href="http://www.ciachef.edu/california/" target="_blank">Culinary Institute of America (Greystone)</a>, where he also served as a TA. He has worked under chef David Chang at Momofuku Ssam Bar, and currently is working at the Wine Spectator Greystone Restaurant. He is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span><span>Apart from working with Mart&iacute;n Berasategui and Roberto Ruiz, they will collaborate with Sammic in the audiovisual projects. We will hear from them soon!&nbsp;</span></span></p>

      <title><![CDATA[Applications Open For a new round of Sammic Scholarships]]></title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">Applications are officially open for the new (and improved!) Sammic Scholarships. Even as our two current stages,&nbsp;<a href="http://brendendarby.com/"><strong>Brenden Darby</strong></a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="http://luukhoffman.com/"><strong>Luuk Hoffman</strong></a>, are just settling in at&nbsp;<a href="http://martinberasategui.com/"><strong>Restaurant Mart&iacute;n Berasategui</strong></a>, we are beginning our search for the next culinary stars.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This round, culinary students, recent graduates, and young chefs will have the chance to apply to two distinct&nbsp;<a href="http://sammic.com/"><strong>Sammic</strong></a>&nbsp;Scholarships.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><br />The first Scholarship, the&nbsp;<strong><a href="http://www.basquestage.com/top-chef-scholarship/">Top Chef Sammic Scholarship</a></strong><strong>,&nbsp;</strong>is identical to the previous BasqueStage Sammic Scholarships.&nbsp;One talented winner will receive a<strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>six-month</strong>, all-expense-paid stage, working under the direction of a Basque chef of the highest category as well as the opportunity to tell about their experience to other chefs through the website and blogs created for this purpose. Two of these months will be spent apprenticing with producers and artisans of the Basque region.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><br />The second scholarship is a new one: the&nbsp;<strong><a href="http://www.basquestage.com/rising-stars-scholarship/">Rising Star Sammic Scholarship</a></strong><strong>.</strong>&nbsp;The winner will receive a&nbsp;<strong>three-month</strong>&nbsp;stage, working under the direction of a Basque chef who is on the brink of world culinary stardom.&nbsp;This is the Rising Star Sammic Scholarship&rsquo;s first round, and we are proud to announce the collaboration of<a href="http://www.restaurantefronton.com/"><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>Roberto Ruiz</strong></a>, a Basque chef of the highest caliber. Named Best Restaurateur by the Basque Academy of Gastronomy, Chef Ruiz is passionate about food and obsessed with quality product, and stages will accompany him to farms and markets. This is a unique opportunity for an authentic culinary experience in the Basque countryside.</p>

      <title><![CDATA[Welcome Brenden & Luuk!]]></title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p>It was a pleasure to welcome <a href="http://brendendarby.com/" target="_blank">Brenden B. Darby</a> y <a href="http://www.luukhoffman.com/" target="_blank">Luuk Hoffman</a>&nbsp;at Sammic headquarters yesterday. Both are the winners of IV Sammic Scholarships at <a href="http://www.basquestage.com" target="_blank">BasqueStage </a>project.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Brenden and Luuk are working with the acclaimed 7-Michelin-Star chef&nbsp;<a href="http://www.martinberasategui.com/blog/" target="_blank">Mart&iacute;n Berasategui</a> in his restaurant in Lasarte, Spain.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Yesterday they had the opportunity to see where and how Sammic equipment they use at <a href="http://www.martinberasategui.com/es/inicio" target="_blank">Restaurante Mart&iacute;n Berasategui</a> is manufactured. From aluminium casting to assembly lines, finishing the tour at the smart warehouse, designed to offer the best service.&nbsp;</p>

      <title><![CDATA[Luuk Hoffman and Brenden Darby win 4th Sammic Scholarship]]></title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">The names of the winners of the latest edition of Sammic Scholarships at <a href="http://www.basquestage.com" target="_blank">BasqueStage </a>project were published yesterday.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The jury from Sammic and Restaurant <a href="http://www.martinberasategui.com" target="_blank">Mart&iacute;n Berasategui</a>, through careful consideration of experience, communication skills, and videos and recipes submitted, has chosen the following cooks to be the next Sammic Scholars for BasqueStage:</p>

      <title><![CDATA[IV Sammic Scholarship: Apply now!]]></title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">You can now apply for 4th Sammic Scholarship at <a href="http://www.basquestage.com">BasqueStage</a> project. This time too, 2 candidates will be selected to enjoy a 6-month-stage at 3-Michelin-Star <a href="http://www.martinberasategui.com">Restaurant Martin Berasategu</a>i and take part in complementary, highly interesting gastronomic activities.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">There are a few changes in the selection process comparing to previous editions as this will divide into <a href="http://www.basquestage.com/bs-iv/">2 stages</a>: during the first stage of the selection process, the candidates will just have to fill in a form. During the second stage, the pre-selected candidates will have to submit a video and other documents to be eligible.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The two winners of the IV Sammic Scholarship will be announced via internet on May 1, 2012.</p>

      <title><![CDATA[We are pleased to announce the Winners of Sammic Scholarship]]></title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://www.martinberasategui.com">Martin Berasategui</a> will announce today during his presentation at the Alicante&nbsp;"Lo mejor de la Gastronom&iacute;a" &nbsp;conference, the winners of the Third Sammic Scholarship at <a href="http://www.basquestage.com">Basquestage </a>Project.</p>
<p>Of the shortlisted candidates, the winners are Ruth Escudero Selby and Elisha Ben-Haim.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Ruth Selby Escurdero is American and Elisha Ben-Haim is of Israeli origin and resident in the U.S.. Both have received culinary training at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Ruth E. Selby at Greystone (California) and Elisha Ben-Haim in New York. They have extensive experience in renowned restaurants and both are attracted by the idea of training in a three-star Michelin restaurant and to live for 6 months in the World's no.1 culinary destination.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">As in previous years, we were at<a href="http://www.host.fieramilano.it/"> Host fair </a>in Milan exhibiting on our own stand.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">We took the opportunity to present our innovations in dishwashing and dynamic food preparation equipment, and to launch our new <a href="http://www.sammic24.com/index.php/mod.documentos/mem.volcar/iddocumento.13615/mod_origen.pags/tipo.relacionado/chk.e9f198fc0717b37c9ded359fb1915569.html">vegetable preparation machines CA-301/401</a> (a flagship product), also available in <a href="http://www.sammic24.com/index.php/mod.documentos/mem.volcar/iddocumento.13618/mod_origen.pags/tipo.relacionado/chk.7f9e8d08a5ea5905ed9003b91e5be9a6.html">combined version as CK.</a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://www.tracyfearless.com">Tracy Chang</a>, one of the winners of the 1st edition of Sammic Scholarships into <a href="http://www.basquestage.com">BasqueStage</a> Porject promoted by Sammic, accompanied us and was responsible for demonstrating the new vegetable preparation machine. Visitors could enjoy the "pintxos" created by 3-Michelin-Star <a href="http://www.martinberasategui.com">Chef Martin Berasategui</a>, especially for the occasion.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Host Fair in Milan is the main event of the sector in Europe and was again provided a continuous flow and quality of visitors.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Another success of the increasingly international Sammic Group.</p>
